Life is full of changes, and as of June 2011, I decided it was time to move on to my "next chapter in life" and with bittersweet thoughts and memories, closed my Sweet Material Things shop in Climax, SK.  I won't be retiring in the REAL sense as I could not leave my fabric obsession yet.  Thus, I have just re-established my business to operate in new ways.

We have moved our home to Medicine Hat, Alberta.  Here I have found the perfect "home" to incorporate lots of fabric, my sewing machines, my Pfaff Grand Quilter and quilting frame as well as my online business which will improve and enlarge as my time allows.

I plan to attend quilt shows as a vendor so am open to lots of invitations to do so.  I will organize retreats and do teaching as these become available also.

I guess I will continue to be very busy as there has not been a dull moment for the last several months.  I thank God for precious good health and will continue to try to use it in good ways.  I will continue to sew and quilt voluntarily for Victoria's Quilts Canada for the Climax Branch.  This organization is very dear to my heart.

For the past two years, I have had an outlet for my quilting/sewing projects with a wonderful lady, the owner of Corner Florist, in her shop in Shaunavon, SK.  Sadly, due to the loss of her battle with cancer in November 2011, her business has closed.  She and her lovely business will be truly missed in Shaunavon.  Thus, I have had to close my outlet there.

But when God closes a door, He opens a window and a new venture has opened in Frontier, SK called "Corner Closet".  It's a wonderful cozy gift shop and quilting corner.  Val has asked me to supply inventory for the quilting corner.  I am thrilled and excited to be still involved with this "old home" area and my quilting people!  I wish all the best of times to Val as she plans all the fun times ahead.

I was hoping to be able to announce my TWO outlets in the southwest but that was not to be at this time.  So my Shaunavon inventory has become part of the new Corner Closet.  Please check it out - I'm hearing lots of good accolades already.  The address is:

I welcome your calls if you have a request or something you may want to order.  I will not be having a brick and mortar shop, as such,  from here but will be shipping to you.  I will be adding online ordering with the pictures and pricing as I learn the process.  Thanks so much for your patience.  I'm so anxious to get this part of the business going soon.

                                RETREAT DATES

I have dates booked for a FALL QUILTING RETREAT at Cypress Hills Park Resort.  Since all weekends are already booked for this spring, I am unable to plan one then.  My intention is to have both Spring and Fall retreats in the future, so I will book early and be able to do that for 2013, but for this year we have to miss Spring.  My apologies to you that maybe would prefer then.  SO....PLAN NOW for the dates of

                  OCTOBER 18,19,20 & 21,  2012
or what portion thereof you can come.  I have extended it to include the Thursday late afternoon/evening as I had several requests for that from our 2011 Spring Fling retreat.  They are cutting off my block of saved rooms on April 30, 2012 so if you hope to come, please book a room before then so we can be sure you have one.  You can also let me know what type of room you'd like and I can book it for you if you prefer.

I will send out all information by the end of February regarding complete plans.  However, for now I plan to do a Christmas theme with lots of demos, make-and-takes, fun contests, treats and "all year long" projects, too.  You will not be held to any particular project and will be most welcome to work on whatever you prefer to bring.  However, I will bring "my shop" with lots of tempting projects, as well.
